One of the great things about paragliders is that you can take them on international flights, chuck them in the back of a
rental car or on a train, and go flying anywhere in the world. The problem is - where can you fly?
There are some great websites displaying paragliding sites all over the world, and some even display them on a map
so the user can see what else is in the region. The problem is that no-one ever mashed this information up with current
weather conditions so that pilots can see where they can fly their glider NOW! This is the question www.ParaglidingMap.com
is designed to answer with it's paragliding weather map.
NOTE: www.ParaglidingMap.com uses an algorithm to tell you which paragliding and hang-gliding sites look flyable based upon
current wind strength, wind direction and atmospheric conditions. Some stations don't report all this information, and
therefore pilots need to evaluate whether a given site is safe or not before flying there. This site will show you where it
is probably good, but a human still needs to make the final decision.
In Europe, you can find Paragliding hotels. A pilot can fly cross-country, spend the night at one of these hotels, and take off
from the front lawn the next day for a new adventure. At some point these hotels will be added as a layer to the map so pilots can
plan their cross-country flights if they are doing this type of activity.
