One of the best launch sites in Bulgaria. The correct name is Zaltista (Златица in Bulgarian).
Launch is from a mountain plateau - there are at least 10 spots to choose from, depending your level. In good wind, soaring is awesome - people gain several hundred meters of altitude above launch in minutes.
Landing is on a vast, grassy field, suitable for beginner pilots doing their first high altitude flights.
About 1.5 hours drive from Sofia. Bear in mind that to reach the launch site, you either need a proper 4x4 or else you'll have to walk close to 2 hours uphill - and it's not a pleasant hike with a glider on your back. Alternatively, there is a local minibus driver who is available on busy days (when there are at least 5 pilots on site) to give you a lift uphill for 5 eur a person. However, he will not bother if its less than 4-5 people. All locals know his phone number - don't be afraid to ask in the village nearby.
