Launch site is accessible via a small path around the right side of the restaurant.
Spring 2025: The local government has allocated money to completely reform the take-off. From next September it will be more accessible and with a rubber runway.
Forward launch with no wind is possible but tricky, as the site is surrounded by cacti and other rough and scratchy vegetation and it's not always easy to clear it entirely during takeoff. The site is pretty flat, so it's difficult to gain height on the first meters.
It helps to have a good wing control on the uneven terrain.
Make sure to have the proper wind direction!
Towards the left (NW) there is less vegetation and a steep cliff. With the proper wind this could make the take off easier. Haven't tried it.
Don't assume you'll reach the landing at the whalebone Silos. You can look for a landing at the Interrian Caleta or halfway near an old industrial building.
Beautiful flight over Los Silos, with incredible rock formations and a beautiful view over the coast line.
Watch the regional wind! Thermals through couloirs can give you a good north direction at the launch site despite wind from south, but this means lee right after take off at the cliff and at the landing site.
