06.05.2022:
The new construction of the Nebelhornbahn has now been completed. The take-off area is usable again.
Launch site closed since 23.7.19 for safety reasons. A material ropeway was built for the new construction of the Nebelhornbahn. This leads through the launch site at Höfatsblick. For safety reasons, the launch site Höfatsblick/Probsthaus is therefore closed until the completion of the work. At the Zeigersattel a clear launch area is fenced in and can be used by paragliders. The take-off place Höfatsblick/Probsthaus is closed since 23.7.19. For the new construction of the Nebelhornbahn a material ropeway was built. It leads through the starting point at Höfatsblick. For safety reasons, the launch site is therefore closed until the work is completed. At the Zeigersattel a small take-off area is fenced in and can be used by paragliders. Important: Current information and map on access to the Zweigersattel as well as prohibited areas can be found at https://www.odv-allgaeu.de/news
The Nebelhorn is one of the most attractive flying sites in Germany. The location in the high alpine Allgäuer Alps is impressive. All around, the flying area can be described as challenging. The main take-off point is the Edmund-Probst-Haus at the Edmund-Probst-Haus mountain station. Here you start to the west. This is also where training takes place. The Nebelhorn summit with two further starting points is reached in another cable car section. The Nebelhorn summit launch site (west of the summit station) may only be used by particularly experienced pilots with an unlimited aviation licence. Instruction required. Two-seater launches only after special approval by the ODV. The Nebelhorngipfel- terrace launch site (below the summit station) may also only be used by experienced pilots with an unlimited pilot's license. Stable wind conditions are mandatory. Instruction required. Take-offs may only take place parallel to the ropes of the cable car. Prerequisite for take-offs is a non-slip surface, appropriate weather conditions and flying experience. In winter, a winter launch site will be created at the summit in coordination with the Nebelhornbahn AG.
A further starting point is further west (Gaißfuß), which can be reached on foot. The Gaißfuß is much easier than the Nebelhorn summit. The landing site Oibele is bordered by trees and can be described as turbulent. Pilots can also land on the Seealpe at the Speichersee (keep your distance). 1. the take-off area at the Nebelhorn summit may only be used by pilots with an unlimited pilot's license.
2. a minimum distance of 100 m from the slope shall be maintained in the Seealpe wildlife sanitation area. For en-route flights outside the main flight sector the marking of the aircraft is required. In all other respects the "Flugordnung Nebelhorn" of the ODV applies in the respective current version. This is part of the present permission. The ODV has to coordinate the content of the "Flugordnung Nebelhorn" with the DHV.
3. two-seater starts at the Nebelhorn summit may only take place after instruction and approval by the ODV. The certification for pilots is based on the requirements of the ODV with visual inspection and confirmation by the ODV. In particular, pilots may only be admitted if they can demonstrate sufficient experience and safe handling of the glider. Two-seater starts may only be carried out in stable wind conditions between 5 - 15 km/h, starting direction 200° plus / minus 20°. In case of unsafe ground or weather conditions, take-off is prohibited. The following starting places are not affected by these requirements with regard to double-seater starts: Foghorn Probsthaus, foghorn Probsthaus, foghorn Probsthaus South.
