south take of the aiguille du midi
To reach the starting point, simply follow the skiers over the steep ridge descent.
Although this steep descent is usually secured with hand ropes, the skiers tumble head over heels. The descent continues a little further than for skiers until a small plateau appears at around 3605 meters. Here you are on a snow and ice slope that quickly drops steeply and, depending on the weather, is often frozen as hard as a rock. Crampons are HIGHLY recommended for the descent, especially in summer!
July - August the start is absolutely forbidden!
It is less common to fly away to the south and turn over the Mer de Glace to Chamonix. The landing site is not visible from the launch site!
Walking time: approx. 30 minutes
As a rule, you need a guide and descend roped up!
The wind can be very strong. Strong wind training and very good take-off technique are essential, even in strong winds!
Only for experienced, well-trained pilots with altitude experience!
No flying from July 1st til sept. PGHM rules
Altitude 3637m
