Davos Paragliding Sites

In summer, this lower take-off point is an alternative to the Braema when it is too windy to launch from the top. If conditions are suitable, you can soar for hours in the valley wind in the evenings. The descent from the Braema launch site takes another 15 minutes. As it is more of a giant launch meadow than a take-off site, even less experienced pilots feel comfortable. From Davos take the mountain railroad to Parsenn (Hoehenweg stop). From there walk to the launch site. The launch site is a moderately steep meadow. From the 'middle-station of the 'Parsennbahn', ca 150m direction N, at 2200m; usable summer and winter; easy. From the middle station of the Parsennbahn, the Höhenweg launch site is located approx. 150 m to the right in a northerly direction, at 2220 m. It can be used in summer and winter. Favorable wind direction is NE-S. The launch site is located on a moderately steep meadow slope, free of obstacles. In winter, however, it is only recommended with skis. The path to the launch site is otherwise a pain in the deep snow, and you can suddenly sink in up to your hips at the start. It's a shame that the snow groomer doesn't drive through here once, because the place is really great and a take-off elevation is easy. 1- and 2-seater Altitude 2160m

From Davos with the Sesselift to the Strella Pass. From there on foot to the launch site. The starting place is a first flat then steep meadow. Altitude 2700m

From Davos with the mountain railway to the Jakobshorn. Just below the Jakobshorn mountain station is the starting point of the Jakobshorn. The starting point Jakobshorn summit is slightly inclined at the top and then changes further down into a steeper scree and scree slope. Generally avoided by the local pilots, a start over the cliff towards NNW. With a weak to moderate north wind, there is the possibility to take off northwards against the ropes of the Jakobshorn cable car. However, this is an unofficial launch site and should only be reserved for experienced pilots. The degree of difficulty for the north start is to be classified as difficult. Skiers and snowboarders must be careful when starting on the slopes. For safety reasons, the ropes of the lift should not be flown over or under. Immediately after the start turn left and fly out in front of the mast between the masts and the rocks. In summer, a take-off from this starting point is not recommended, because of the strong valley wind from north lee from Braemabueel. With strong north to south-east winds, a take-off from Jakobshorn should generally be avoided due to lee turbulence.
