Gumen Bergstation (Winter)

The winter launch site is open from 13.01.2018 until the end of the snow sports season. From the mountain station, follow the footpath and signs downhill for 80m. The marked, cordoned-off area is specially prepared for launching. Do not disturb the snow sports operation under any circumstances! Even with a slight southerly overpressure, it can get very turbulent here in winter. Gumengrat

Take the funicular from Linthal to Braunwald. From there, walk 10 minutes to the Gumen chairlift and take it to the summit. The launch site is a moderately steep meadow. Beware of north to north-easterly winds, as there is a strong empty rotor. Watch out for spies on the Gumen ridge. In northerly winds there is often strong wind shear a few 10m above the start slope Thanks to the new Gumen cable car, the launch site can now be reached again after a 20-minute walk. steep meadow In the off-season, walk from the Braunwald mountain station or fly up. Just 2 minutes walk from cable car Station 'Braunwald'. Enough space to lay out 3 gliders, but launch only one at a time. Be aware when the valley wind goes cross over the launch. One way ticket is 7 CHF. Parking at the station below is 5 CHF for the first day. Bodenberg

From Luchsingen with the cable car. From there on foot via Baerensol and Unter Stafel to the launch site. The launch site is a moderately steep meadow. Caution: Please only use it when the vegetation is low. The launch site is located above the mountain station. It can be reached in approx. 20 minutes from the mountain station. The trail leads via Bärensol, continuing in the direction of Unter Stadel to the launch site. The launch site may only be used when the vegetation is low. It is advisable to ask for permission first if you meet someone. The launch site is no longer marked. If you take the lower path (after the mountain station to the signpost, then right, then right again / flat) you will come to the farm and can ask where and whether you are allowed to take off. The path then leads up from the farm to the sawmill, then through the forest, past two barns to the launch site, by the wall, in front of the row of trees.
