Zermatt Paragliding Sites

From Zermatt on the marked path to Alterhaupt and on to the creek followed by the path for about 300 m. At about 2/3 of this height cross the grass flank to the right until you reach the starting area. The starting place is a meadow south of the ridge. Altitude 2490m

Large launch site in WNW lift station Blauherd. Low inclined slope, is preferred by tandems, as it is much larger than the starting point directly next to the lift station. Do not use in southerly winds, as there is a risk of leeward winds from the side of the hilltop. Coordinates: 46° 01' 05,27 / 007° 46' 54,10 Altitude 2490 m . From Zermatt with tunnel funicular to Sunnega. Cable car Sunnega - Rothorn; get off at Blauherd. Altitude 2488m

The launch site is a flat meadow. Altitude 2570m

Take the gondola lift from Sunnegga to Unterrothorn. The launch site is a moderately steep launch ramp, partly covered with grass carpet. 1) Rothorn TO:* Take off 3100m facing North and South.* Most common Winter & Summer take off site. Generally good snow coverage with light winds. Stronger during Spring.* Rocky coverage in Summer with strong winds to be expected in afternoons.2) Blauherd TO:* Take off 2'600m facing West.* Generally a Summer take off site.* Approx. 5 mins walk downhill from Blauherd Station.* Grassy slope in Summer with light winds increasing with thermic and valley winds in afternoon.3) Sunnegga TO:* Take off 2'200m generally flown during the off season when Blauherd and Rothorn lifts not operating.* Wind starts moderate and increases beyond launchable by early afternoon. Ideal starting point near the summit, directly from the right-hand edge of the ski slope (please be considerate of skiers). 1- and 2-seater Altitude 3100m

From Sunnegga by cable car to Unterrothorn. The starting place is a flat place to lay out, then middle and slightly hilly terrain with grass and stones. Altitude 3080m

From Sunnegga by cable car to Oberrothorn. From there on foot to the launch site. The launch site is a medium steep slope with fine scree. Altitude 3400m

High Mountain decoration, good experience necessary. Atterrissage a Zermatt. Altitude 4121m
