Altitude: 2000m. Take-off: East-facing - cliff edge overlooking Mafate. Flying on site: There is a weather beacon at take-off visible on Spot'Air. Flight for experienced pilots only, preferably accompanied by a local pilot instructor. Invigorating take-off, mastering inflation in strong winds. Committed, dynamic, thermodynamic mountain flying. Magnificent view of Mafate. A dream flight. 1st option: Go along the rampart on your left facing Mafate, taking 45 min to reach Saint-Paul beach or land at Rivière des galets. 2nd option: Go over the rampart with at least 200 to 300 meters of gas to avoid the turbulence of this thermodynamic support. Option 3: Go along the rampart on your right, facing Mafate, and you'll be able to make the Grand Bénare and perhaps the grand tour back to Saint-Leu. Allow at least 2 hours to reach Saint-Leu (very demanding flight). Possible landings: 2 bras / Rivière des Galets / Plage Saint-Paul / Saint-Leu / La Saline / Others... The official landing is in Rivière des Galets. Plan to arrive early for take-off, as the aerology strengthens rapidly in the morning. Trouble can also arrive very quickly. Don't go too far into the Mafate cirque, as landings are rare and the aerology disturbed. The classic flight is along the rampart heading north. You can land either in the Rivière des Galets or on the beach at Saint Paul, but be careful to cross the urbanized area at sufficient height. No official landing on the plateau before the town. The large, green, non-urbanized area is a pond... Weak wind conditions as there is acceleration on take-off. Take off in a headwind. Cliff take-off. Altitude : 2 200 metres ASLSituation : West region (St-Paul)Access : Accesses to Maido peak are particularly well indicated from St Paul or St Gilles by the Route du Théâtre, thanks to the orange-coloured road signs which will guide you up to the summit. The site is 1 km downstream to the summit. Park your vehicle just before the exit of the forest and take the road on your left, you will arrive on the site after 10 minutes of walking on foot. Arriving by car: park in one of the parking lots. Departure point: -21.070381, 55.385845. Arrival by bus: take the bus from the St Paul bus station at 5.40 am. Access routes to Piton Maïdo are well signposted from the Rampes de St Paul or St Gilles via the route du théâtre. The site is 1 km downhill from the summit (viewpoint), leaving the forest on the way up; small path on your left, then a 10-20 minute walk (Ilet Alcide hike). Site for Delta (ramp) take the road to Mafate, before reaching the Rempart turn left along the rampart. Map 4401 RT. Near CTR St Denis Open only to pilots with mountain flying experience. On-site flight: Flight reserved for good pilots, along the ramparts. Thermal flight and possibility of cross-country flight towards St-Leu. The easiest way is to turn right after the deco. Go around the knoll and follow the chain, always to the right. Count the crests below you, and at the fourth crest, if you're high enough, there's a gap to the right where you can see Cilaos and the Piton des Neiges (a real highlight!). Here, a quick look down: you reach the fifth crest, below the village of Entre Deux, straight ahead the Saint Étienne river, which flows out of the cirque of Cilaos. Turn left to follow the crest to the cisterns. From here, you can see the soccer stadium, a landing field (with frequent restrictions: see landing sheet). Cross-country possibilities abound for the keen pilot. Winds: South, South/East. Winds must be light to fly on this site. Altitude: 2000 m Beware of strong easterly and westerly winds, as flying here is dangerous. A fantastic site! The possibilities of crossing are numerous. Plan to arrive at the takeoff spot relatively early, because the site can get blocked quickly. Situation : Region of Saint-Louis (South Coast)Altitude : 2 000 m ASLAccess: is made form the village of Map 4405 RT Go to the village of Entre Deux, cross it then take the D26 to the start of the 4x4 track (-21.206066, 55.491265). From there 1h of 4x4. A footpath is also available. Take-off is after passing a few houses. Permission required to use 4x4 tracks (see tourist office). In accordance with prefectoral decree no. 3359 DR.1 on the use of ultralight gliders (PUL): -Flights can be practised freely under the following conditions for practice supervised in a federal structure (EFVL and CEFVL): be at least 12 years old, wear PPE in compliance with current regulations (see EFVL and CEFVL charters). -Valid aviation liability insurance is mandatory. -PULs are subject to the rules of the air. Users must comply with the regulations set out in the French Civil Aviation Code. They must also comply with FFVL recommendations. Members of the public and accompanying persons must comply strictly with pedestrian traffic regulations: they are forbidden to circulate in the preparation and take-off areas. -All offenders are liable to temporary or permanent exclusion from the site. Protocol in force for landing on the Entre-Deux stadium: a request must be made by e-mail only to the sports department of the Entre-Deux commune (sport@entredeux.re) one clear day before the planned date and before 11.45 a.m. on Fridays; the requesting party must specify his/her name/first name/telephone number and qualifications (solo, club/association, professional, etc.) and will receive a reply in the same way. On Saturdays and Sundays, landing is authorized in the morning only, until 12:30. Visualize any wind entering the sea. Southeast to south-southwest wind, up to 20 km/h max. Situation : Bézaves village (above Saint Joseph) This site is fitted out, covered and maintained by the the nearness of a water tank, situated between two peaks. From Saint-Pierre, the déco is on the right peak. Take the RD3, just before the bridge over Rivière des Ramparts and follow the road indications Map 4406 RT. From St Joseph take the RD3 just before the Rivière des Remparts bridge (in town) and follow signs for Plaine des Grègues. Continue for 4 km in a straight line, with large red eucalyptus trees on your right, and a dirt parking lot on your left inside the bend. Unmissable take-off path. A sign indicates the site. ATTENTION ZONE R2: altitude 2200 m in normal periods, 1600 m in eruptive periods. Pierrefonds RMZ 6 kilometers to the west: keep informed on Spotair Access on foot via the path on the east side, not via the access reserved for the water department (north side). Altitude 430m
